Ky. gains 809 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 809 new cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth Friday, and 11 new deaths.

That means the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state at 51,677 and 98 of the cases reported Friday were children under the age of 18.  The positivity rate to finish out the week is at 4.70 percent—Governor Beshear urged people to make sure they’re maintaining those health guidelines, such as limiting gatherings to 10 people or less, during the Labor Day Weekend to not lose the ground that’s been won against this virus.

The death toll in Kentucky is now at 987.  The governor updated the executive order concerning evictions in the state to reflect recent guidance given by the CDC, which is does not relieve anyone of the obligation to pay rent or comply with any other obligation under a tenancy, lease or similar contract. The CDC order allows landlords to charge and collect fees, penalties and interest for failure to timely pay rent, but prohibits evictions for nonpayment or late payment of such fees, penalties or interest.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 1,051 new COVID-19 cases there, up to 160,597 in total, and 22 new deaths, up to 1,837.
