Kentucky passes 50k COVID-19 cases

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 906 new cases Thursday, the third highest amount reported, and 10 new deaths.

That brings the overall total of cases up to 50,885, and the death toll in the Commonwealth now sits at 976 since the pandemic began. The governor says it’s good that the positivity rate remains below five percent at 4.53 percent, but he’s concerned how high the number of new cases continues to be.

He says 124 of those new cases were children under the age of 18.  Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack urged people to be careful this coming Labor Day Weekend and not let up on maintaining those health guidelines everyone is so familiar with now.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 1,715 new cases of COVID-19 and 18 new deaths in the Volunteer State.
