Amy McGrath visits western Kentucky

Amy McGrath is the democratic challenger facing off against U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the November election and she made a stop in Hopkinsville Thursday.

McGrath flew in the Christian County Airport Thursday afternoon and then spoke with supporters at Tie Breaker Park.  In an interview with WHOP News, McGrath says one of the big focuses of her campaign has been healthcare, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  She says she wants to take the things people liked about the Affordable Care Act, fix the things that were a problem and give people options on healthcare.

McGrath says it’s vital that the federal government give aid to state and local governments that have been impacted by the pandemic, and it’s their job to do so.

She expressed her support of the voting plan Secretary of State Michael Adams and Governor Andy Beshear have agreed on, saying it’s the best plan in the nation that benefits all voters.  She did express concern for the United States Postal Service, saying it’s time postal workers received the help they deserve.

McGrath says if elected she would focus on creating jobs, expanding broadband internet service in the state, and fight to keep Fort Campbell going with the funding it needs.
