The Christian County High School Percussion Ensemble and Concert Choir have been selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference in February.
According to a news release, both groups sent recorded performances to the KMEA selection committee, who chose the group for a performance slot at the 2021 conference, which is one of the highest recognitions a performing ensemble can receive at the state level.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the conference will be held virtually—each performing group selected will be given the opportunity to livestream at an assigned time, or to share a recorded performance for replay during the conference.
Assistant Band Director Calvin Warren says, “Being selected to perform at the 2021 KMEA conference is a huge deal for our students. Many groups apply each year and being selected is a testament to our students’ hard work and perseverance.”
Choir Director Ben Stephens says, “This performance is an outstanding opportunity for our students to showcase their talent, and hard work for our community, our district and for the state of Kentucky. We are proud to be part of a continuing tradition of musical excellence at Christian County High School.”
