HCC to host virtual concert for retired U.S. Navy Band principal oboist

Hopkinsville Community College will play host to a virtual concert this month showcasing musical performances by Retired United States Navy Band principal Oboist Roy Scott Alexander.

According to a news release, the performances will take place September 15 at 2:30 p.m. and on September 17, at 5 p.m. and they can be joined via website link. The event is free and open to all.

Alexander earned his Bachelor’s Performance Degree in oboe with minors in voice and music composition.  Before college graduation, he was hired by the United States Navy Band, Washington DC as the English horn soloist and eventually he would be selected as principal oboist. In his retirement Alexander is composing music, and has joined the Salem Symphonic Winds in Salem, Oregon on clarinet.
