University of Kentucky football players walked out of Thursday’s practice in a show of protest over the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. Coach Mark Stoops said Thursday he didn’t know anything about it until he unknowingly walked into a players’ only meeting. He sat and listened to his players before ultimately supporting what they did.
The Bowling Green Daily News reports Western Kentucky football players did not practice yesterday also in protest of the Wisconsin shooting. Coach Tyson Helton said the Hilltoppers will return to workouts today.
Austin Peay’s football program will take center stage tomorrow evening as they open the season against Central Arkansas in the FCS Kickoff at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL. The Governors are ranked 13th in the FCS preseason Top 25 poll while the Bears are ranked 11th. Kickoff is at 8 pm.
