Unemployment rose in all nine Pennyrile counties from June to July and the numbers were also ahead of one year ago.
Christian county’s jobless rate in July was 7.4 percent, up from 5.7 percent in June and up from 5.4 percent a year ago. That equated to 1,713 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County maintained the region’s lowest unemployment rate at 4.7 percent, up from 3.3 percent in June and from 4.1 percent in July of 2019.
The jobless rate in Trigg County was 6.3 percent, up from 4.7 percent the prior month and ahead of 5.1 percent from a year ago.
Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest unemployment rate at 8.4 percent.
The state average for July was 6.2 percent and the national number was 10.5 percent.
