Today begins fall practice for high school football, volleyball, boys and girls soccer and cross country. However, the state’s two biggest cities, Louisville and Lexington are debating whether to go along with the KHSAA measure passed last week.
According to the Courier Journal, Jefferson County Public Schools will discuss phasing in fall sports when they meet this evening. Practices for cross country and field hockey would start Tuesday, with competition beginning September 8th. Practices for of soccer and volleyball would start September 7th, with competition beginning September 14th.
Football will have helmet only conditioning tomorrow through Friday, with helmet and shoulder pads only August 31st-September 3rd, full-gear practices September 7th-17th, scrimmages among JCPS teams only September 12th, with first games on September 18th.
Meanwhile, Fayette County will also decide what they plan to do with fall sports this evening.
