Princeton’s Emma Talley concluded play Sunday at the Women’s British Open with a final round 74 and finishing with a four day total of 298 good for a tie for 64th and winning $8,217. Germany’s Sophia Popov-who nearly gave up golf a year ago-at seven under won the event by two strokes.
Dustin Johnson fired a final-round 63 and cruised to an 11-shot victory at the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust at TPC Boston. Johnson finished at 30-under and surged into the lead in the FedEx Cup standings. Harris English was second at minus-19. Tiger Woods tied for 58th at six-under after a final round 66. Louisville area native Justin Thomas tied for 20th at seven under par.
PGA Tour Champions begins play today at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Ozarks National in Ridgedale, MO. Phil Mickelson and Rich Beem are making their debuts on PGA Tour Champions. Franklin’s Kenny Perry is also in the field.
