Princeton’s Emma Talley fired a six over 77 in her opening round of the Women’s British Open Thursday at Royal Troon. American Amy Olson had a four under par 67 and has a three shot lead.
On the PGA Tour, Russell Henley finished with an eagle to close out a first-round, seven-under 64 to tie three others for The Northern Trust lead at TPC Boston. Harris English, Kevin Streelman and Cameron Davis also shot 64s. Tiger Woods is four strokes back after a three-under 68. Louisville area native Justin Thomas is tied for 30th at three under par while Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker is at two over.
Franklin’s Kenny Perry is in a three way tie for second at 10 under par at the PGA Tour Champions event in Ridgedale, MO. Shane Bertsch is the leader at 14 under.
