Ky. gains 785 new COVID-19 cases, 8 new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 785 new cases of COVID-19 during Friday’s update, and eight new deaths.

That brings those totals up to 42,265 in overall cases and 864 Kentuckians that have died since the pandemic began in the Commonwealth.  Governor Beshear says the data seems to be showing that Kentuckians have successfully stopped that exponential growth that had been occurring in July.

He says while that is good news, the work must continue to bring the case numbers down and put the positivity rate—which is unchanged from Thursday at 5.18 percent—at a more manageable level.

As of Friday, there have been at least 803,198 coronavirus tests performed in Kentucky and approximately 9,448 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

Tennessee gained 1,669 new COVID-19 cases Friday, putting the Volunteer State’s total at 140,844—there were 61 new deaths, bringing that total to 1,549.  Montgomery County gained 37 cases, Robertson County saw 14 new cases and Stewart County had no new cases.
