CCHD reports five new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Christian County Health Department is reporting five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from Thursday to Friday.

That puts the overall total of cases locally at 796—of that, 243 are considered active and 542 people have recovered from the virus.  Amanda Sweeney was the health department addressed reporting differences between the daily health department updates and the updates given by Governor Andy Beshear.  She says the most up-to-date numbers will come from the department itself, as the way they are reported by the state tends to lag behind.

She urged people to keep up those good hand washing practices and other health guidelines as we head into the weekend.

Breaking the active cases down into age groups there are 55 in the pediatric age group, 128 in the young adult to middle aged grouping, 53 in the older adult category and seven in the elderly age group.  Christian County has had 11 COVID-19 related deaths.
