Partial opening of Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel set for Sep. 18

Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel is set to open its historical racing machine gaming floor, four restaurants and event center to the public on September 18.

President and General Manager Darold Londo spoke with the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Tuesday and says the opening did have some delays due to the ongoing pandemic and issues caused by that, but they’re excited to open in September.

He says they have been and will continue to work closely with the Christian County Health Department to make sure they’re complying with health and safety guidelines.

The hotel, equestrian center, amphitheater, an RV park as well as the second season of live harness racing will follow later in the fall. Construction has been underway on the facility in Oak Grove since April of 2019 and has been a $200 million project.  Up to 1,300 historical racing machines will make up the initial gaming and the restaurants will include Garrison Oak Steakhouse, Lucky Lime Tex Mex and SGT. Peppers Po’Boys and Burgers and O’Dark Thirty Coffee House.

Live harness racing will return to Oak Grove in October and November for the second fall meet and will feature 12:30 p.m. post times daily.
