The Ohio Valley League held its summer meeting on Saturday. The league welcomed the addition of Full Count Rhythm of Hendersonville, TN. The OVL will now play two five team divisions. The Northern division will include Dubois County, Henderson, Madisonville, Muhlenberg County, and Owensboro. The Southern division will include Franklin, Full Count, Fulton, Hopkinsville, and Paducah.
OVL president John Bruce stated the 2021 season will start on Friday, June 4. The League will play 44 regular season games. They will play the teams in their division six times for a total of 24 games and the teams in the opposite division four times for a total 20 games. Bruce added plans are to schedule Mondays as the weekly off day and use Mondays for rain-out makeups.
The OVL will cap off the year with a post season tournament involving all ten teams. They will follow the same format used last year with a 4 versus 5 play-in game in each division, followed by best two of three series in each subsequent round. The Championship series of the tournament should end no later than Sunday, August 8th.
