Governor Andy Beshear announced 376 new coronavirus cases in Kentucky Monday and he remains hopeful the commonwealth is in a new plateau.
The state’s positivity rate ticked up slightly to 5.8 percent—a number Governor Beshear says has to come down.
The 4,333 total new cases last week were the highest yet for a week during the pandemic. The governor says even so, the data shows rapid growth of new cases has ceased at least for now.
Five more deaths were announced, including a 91-year old Calloway County man.
Approximately 760,000 tests have been administered in Kentucky and at least 9,158 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
The governor says he intends to reopen regional unemployment offices in the future, but the state will have to come closer to being caught up on its backlog of pending claims first.
Tennessee gained another 1,036 cases and 21 more deaths Monday. There are 19 new cases in Montgomery County, nine more in Robertson County and Stewart County picked up two new cases.
