The Hoptown Half Marathon and 5K is next month and it will raise money for Challenge House in memory of the organizations founder—the late former mayor Wally Bryan.
The event is set for Saturday, September 19 at 7 a.m. and Toby Hudson with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation says there will be participants running the half-marathon and 5k and walkers on the one mile route.
Last year’s inaugural Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K, which drew 632 participants from 16 states, resulted in a donation of $14,131 to the United Way of the Pennyrile.
Hudon and Superintendent Tab Brockman say you can sign up to run or walk or to volunteer at hoptownhalf.com.
Participation will likely be diminished some from last year due to the pandemic, but Brockman says there will be safety measures in place to keep everyone healthy.
