Ky. sees highest increase of COVID-19 cases

Kentucky saw a record increase of 1,163 in COVID-19 cases Wednesday, according to Governor Andy Beshear, who also announced seven new deaths.

That brings the overall total in the state up to 36,945, with the positivity rate now at 5.62 percent. Thirty-nine of those cases are children under the age of five.  The governor says that high number of positive cases, a record for Kentucky, is partly due to a recent IT glitch in the reporting methods that caused other cases to be under reported—but all of them are still very real.

Governor Beshear says he knows that Kentuckians can bring this pandemic back under control, and he urged people to keep wearing a face mask in public.

Seven more Kentuckians have passed away, including the woman in Christian County, bringing that total up to 790.  The governor once again pushed for the federal government to pass coronavirus relief efforts to benefit state governments to help balance out the impact of the pandemic to economies.

Tennessee gained another 1,478 coronavirus cases from Tuesday to Wednesday, bringing their total to 126,393—18 new deaths puts that total at 1,289.  Montgomery County gained 29 cases, Robertson County gained nine cases and Stewart County saw no new cases.
