Christian Fiscal Court hears update from library

Christian Fiscal Court heard the end of fiscal year report from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library at its meeting Tuesday morning.

Executive Director DeeAnna Sova says enrollment figures for the Christian County Imagination Library have been among the highest that they’ve been in the program’s history.

The library instituted curbside pickup during the pandemic and Sova expects it to continue after COVID-19 is a thing of the past.

The local library is one of four in the state to receive grant funding for a “science in play” initiative and Sova hopes to see it get underway in January.

In other action, magistrates approved the low bid from Westate Construction to widen about a mile of Billy Goat Hill Road by a foot on each side.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says approximately 150 to 200 people are being tested for COVID-19 each week day at the Tie Breaker Park site and the positivity rate for those folks has been about 10 percent.
