The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 locally, including reporting 28 new confirmed cases and 11 positive patients hospitalized.
According to a news release, those 28 cases puts the overall total at 675—207 of them are now considered active and 459 people have recovered. Breaking down the data into categories of age, there have been 114 cases in the age group with the ages 0 through 21, 413 cases among the young to middle aged adults, 130 in the older adult category and 18 in the elderly age group. Christian County has now had nine COVID-19 related deaths.
The health department has begun tracking asymptomatic cases along with the symptomatic cases—26 percent of local cases have been asymptomatic, while 74 percent of cases have shown symptoms. Jennie Stuart Health is reporting they currently have 11 COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized and one patient pending results.
Officials are urging people to keep up healthy practices, including frequently washing hands, wearing a face mask while in public and social distancing, saying between July 10 and August 10, local cases have increased by 349. Taking the necessary precautions can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
