A Paducah woman with Hopkinsville roots was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in McCracken County and the driver has been charged with DUI and murder.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy clocked a car on Old Mayfield Road traveling 92 mph in a 35 mph zone just after 2:30 a.m.
The vehicle accelerated as it went out of site and the deputy found it on its top and on fire in the middle of the roadway.
The unconscious driver, 34-year old Ancinio Demarr Friar of Paducah, was extricated from the wreckage by a deputy who was able to resuscitate him.
His passenger, 29-year old Ronneka Hampton of Paducah, was ejected and efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful, as she died at a local hospital.
Friar was treated and released from Lourdes Hospital in Paducah and he was arrested for DUI, murder, fleeing or evading police and speeding.
