Muhlenberg County woman among 8 new COVID-19 deaths in Kentucky

A Muhlenberg County woman was among eight COVID-19 fatalities announced Saturday by Governor Andy Beshear.

The governor says 772 Kentuckians have now died with the virus and Muhlenberg County’s most recent death was a 73-year old woman.

Another 801 new cases of COVID-19 were reported and the governor says Kentucky has its highest positivity rate at 6.02 percent since everyone was tested at the Green River Correctional Complex earlier in the summer.

The governor says the cases are coming from across the commonwealth.

He says the positivity rate will play a large role in decisions regarding the start of the new school year.

Kentucky has had at least 34,578 total cases and at least 8,647 patients have recovered.

Tennessee gained 1,803 new cases and nine more deaths. Montgomery County gained 19 cases, Robertson added 14 and Stewart has one new case.
