Todd County health department working with Hearthstone, school system during pandemic

Todd County has reached 80 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the local health department continues to work with various entities to prevent spread of the virus.

One new case is an otherwise healthy adult who is isolated at home with no symptoms. The other is an adult with other underlying health conditions who is hospitalized with moderate to severe symptoms.

Public Health Director Jen Harris says testing has been completed on all patients and staff at Hearthstone Place and it’s been determined they have 20 total cases—15 residents and five staff members.

There have been less positive tests among minors in recent days, but Harris expects that number to rise when more activities resume and school reopens.

She says the health department is working closely with the school system making plans to keep students healthy and for how to react when a student or staff member tests positive.

Twenty-four of Todd County’s cases are active and the other 56 have recovered.
