Ky. gains 546 COVID-19 cases, one fatality

After seeing a spike in cases on Tuesday, Kentucky gained another 546 cases of COVID-19 from Tuesday to Wednesday and Governor Andy Beshear says the battle continues to bring the case numbers down.

The governor says although Wednesday’s numbers were better, now is not the time to grow lax in efforts to get the growth under control. The new numbers bring the overall total in the Commonwealth up to 32,741 since the pandemic began, and the positivity rate remained somewhat steady at 5.51 percent.  Governor Beshear says the number of children under the age of five testing positive for the virus is very concerning, including an 18-day old infant, and the numbers will have to be watched closely as the start of school approaches.

Cabinet Health and Family Services Secretary Eric Frielander encouraged people to make sure they sign-up for those benefits they need to get food and healthcare during this pandemic.

One more Kentuckian has passed away due to COVID-19, a 71-year old woman from Logan County, putting that total at 752.

Tennessee is reporting an additional 1,657 cases of COVID-19, up to 114,098 and gained 27 deaths, up to a total of 1,144.  Montgomery County gained 29 cases, Robertson County gained 16 cases and Stewart County reported two new cases.
