Schools in Dawson Springs and Muhlenberg County will begin the new school year using virtual instruction only due to the ongoing pandemic.
Dawson Springs Superintendent Lenny Whalen issued a statement Tuesday morning saying their schools will open September 1 online only. He says while it’s not how they’d prefer to start the year, it’s the safest option for students, families and staff.
The Muhlenberg County Board of Education, based on the recommendation of Superintendent Robby Davis, voted to start the school year all-virtual. Officials there say the plan is to re-assess prior to the next board meeting on September 17, with the goal to have an in-person option beginning Monday, September 21.
