Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Amy McGrath made a campaign stop Saturday afternoon at Debow Park in Hopkinsville.
Speaking under the pavilion on a rainy afternoon, McGrath praised Governor Andy Beshear for restoring voting rights to non-violent felons in Kentucky and said she wants to see voting rights restored to individuals who have served their sentences on a national level.
She also called on Secretary of State Michael Adams to make it as easy and safe as possible for Kentuckians to vote in the general election, similar to the action taken for the primary.
McGrath says she’ll focus on getting 21st century infrastructure in communities that are lacking that technology.
She spoke on social injustice and said there has to be a new investment in education.
McGrath also talked about police reform, including a federal ban of choke holds, and making sure every American has access to affordable healthcare.
McGrath is facing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in November.
