CCHD gives local COVID-19 update

The Christian County Health Department reported 13 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases in Tuesday’s extended update.

That puts the overall total locally at 498, with 153 ‘active’ cases and 340 individuals recovered.  Christian County has had five COVID-19 related deaths. Breaking down the data into categories of age, there have been 81 cases in the pediatric age group, 325 cases among the young adult to middle aged grouping, 81 among older adults and 11 in the elderly age group.

Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, 10,909 tests have been administered locally. The Christian County Health Department continues to offer free testing through August, and during week 14 of testing, tested an average of 170 individuals each day.  Currently for the month of July, the health department is reporting an 8 percent positivity rate.

Jennie Stuart currently has five COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are now defined as fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, loss of taste and smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
