Group asking for name change for Rupp Arena

Kentucky’s African American and Africana Studies program are seeking to change the name of Rupp Arena. They have sent a letter to university president Eli Capiluto asking to remove the Hall of Fame basketball coach’s name from the downtown Lexington arena. They claim Rupp represents “racism and exclusion” and “alienates Black students, fans and attendees.”
