A Clarksville man was arrested by Kentucky State Police in Barren County Wednesday night following a high speed pursuit.
According to a news release from KSP, troopers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed around 9:50 p.m. on Interstate 65. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver reportedly ignored commands and fled. The ensuing pursuit continued for several miles, heading into Barren County before a tire deflation device was successfully deployed.
The driver, identified as 45-year old Gerald Lovett of Clarksville, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. He was arrested and charged with two counts of fleeing or evading police, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth offense DUI, operating a vehicle on a DUI suspended license, and resisting arrest.
