Unemployment dropped significantly in all nine Pennyrile counties from May to June and was down from a year ago in eight counties.
Christian County’s June jobless rate was 5.3 percent, down from 12 percent in May when there were major shutdowns from the pandemic and down from 6.5 percent one year ago. That equated to 1,311 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County is tied for the third-lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.3 percent, down from 7.1 percent in May and from 4.2 percent in June of 2019.
The jobless rate in Trigg County was 4.5 percent, less than half the 10 percent in May and down six tenths of a point from a year ago.
The state average was 4.8 percent and the national number was 11.2 percent.
