Todd County has gained five new cases of COVID-19 in the last week and the local health department is learning more about the virus each day.

Public Health Director Jen Harris says most cases came in clusters of individuals connected to one another early in the pandemic, but that hasn’t necessarily been the case with many of the more recent cases.

The types of most-common symptoms seen with the virus have also evolved from fever and loss of taste and smell to more stomach issues.

Harris says it’s been tough getting good compliance with the facial covering mandate in Todd County and she hopes more people will consider the health of others and reconsider their stance.

She says it’s been particularly hard to reach young people about the dangers of COVID-19, as most feel they won’t get very sick if they get the virus, even though some minors do. Todd County has had 50 total cases of COVID-19.
