Three local youths win state speech title at 4-H competition

Three Christian County youths were recently honored as grand champions of their respective divisions in the Kentucky 4-H Communications Contest.

Christian County 4-H says participation in speech and demonstration contests helps 4-H’ers master communication skills, become more independent, gain self-esteem and generously share their expertise.

More than 300 students from across the state competed in the virtual 4-H communications competition in July and the event was sponsored by the Kentucky Corn Growers’ Association.

Jordan Owen was the nine-year-old speech state champion, Rebecca Wood was the 12-year old speech state champion and Anna Hernandez was the 16-year old speech state champion.
