Portions of city streets to close for upcoming CSX railroad work

CSX will be closing portions of East Ninth Street at the railroad crossing starting on Monday to allow for preparations for repair work to be done.

According to a news release, the closure will be at the crossing near Whistle Stop Donuts and will start Monday at 5 a.m. and last through Tuesday, or until the work is completed. The closure is needed to prepare for repairs and improvements to various street crossings along the rail line starting in mid-August.  Detouring traffic will be diverted to Campbell, 7th, Clay, and Liberty Streets.

Additional closures will come in the next few weeks, including the closure of East 4th on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week as well as East 1st Street on Wednesday and Thursday. All closures are scheduled weather permitting.
