The Atlanta Braves are set to sign free-agent outfielder Yasiel Puig according to MLB.com. The team has not confirmed the signing. The Braves are in need of a right fielder with Nick Markakis opting out of the season because of health concerns over the ongoing pandemic. Puig hit .267 last year with 24 homers between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians.
Eleven MLB umpires have opted to sit out the 60-game 2020 schedule due to coronavirus concerns, MLB Network reports. This leaves the majors with only 59 umpires for the season, but they will likely bring up minor league umps to fill in.
