CCHD gives update on COVID-19 locally

The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 locally Tuesday, saying that there are currently three COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized.

According to a news release, Christian County is at 344 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in total—with one new one reported from Monday to Tuesday—and of those 130 are active, 210 have recovered, and the county has had four COVID-19 related deaths.  Breaking the cases down into age groups, there have been 44 cases in the youth category, 236 in the 22 to 59 years of age grouping, 58 in the older adult category and six in the elderly age group.

Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, there have been 8,255 tests administered in Christian County, not counting other healthcare options. CCHD has been approved to continue conducting free testing at Tie Breaker Park through August 31.  Over the last week, testing has increased, with an average of 145 conducted per day.

There are currently three COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Jennie Stuart and one with test results pending.

To reduce the number of cases, the department asks citizens to continue to social distance when possible, frequently wash hands with soap and warm water, wear a face mask, and visit the free testing site to get tested for COVID-19.
