Big 10 announces conference only football schedule

College football could have a different look in the fall. The Big Ten said Thursday it will play only conference games this season as a result of the coronavirus. Western Kentucky will lose a game after this announcement as their game at Indiana in September will not be played.

Meanwhile, multiple-outlets report the Pac-12 and ACC could follow suit and play games only within the conference across different sports. The Ivy League has already announced it won’t be having fall athletics this year.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement Thursday league officials will continue to meet with regularly with campus leaders in the coming weeks, guided by the medical advisors, to make the important decisions necessary to determine the best path forward related to SEC fall sports.
