Ky. sees 402 new cases of COVID-19, Tn. gains new record high

Kentucky saw an increase in coronavirus cases from Tuesday to Wednesday with 402 reported by Governor Andy Beshear.

According to a news release, that 402 brings the overall total of cases in the Commonwealth up to 17,919 and Governor Beshear says while data has shown the cases to be in a plateau, the recent increase in cases is concerning.  He says, “The rising case numbers are cause for concern, so tomorrow we’re going to announce some new requirements that are going to be mandatory. Given what we are seeing across the country with exploding numbers in certain places, my commitment is to make sure that doesn’t happen here, but I can’t do it alone.”

Six more Kentuckians have died, putting that total at 608 since the pandemic began.  As of Wednesday, there have been at least 451,451 coronavirus tests performed in Kentucky and approximately 4,912 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

The Tennessee Department of Health has a new record high of new cases there with 2,432 reported in the last 24 hours, putting their total at 55,986.  There were 20 new deaths in the Volunteer State, putting that total at 685.  Montgomery County is at 620, Robertson County is at 875 and Stewart County is at 25 cases.
