CCHD gives local update on COVID-19

The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 in Christian County Tuesday, and reported one additional confirmed case from Monday to Tuesday.

According to a news release, the overall total of confirmed cases since the pandemic began locally is 267—60 of those are considered ‘active’ and 203 people have recovered.  Breaking it down into age groups, there are have been 33 cases in the pediatric age group, 183 cases in the 22 to 59 years of age grouping, 47 in the older adult category and four in the elderly age group. Christian County has seen four COVID-19 related deaths.

Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, a total of 7,335 tests have been performed locally, not counting other local healthcare providers.

Jennie Stuart Health currently has one confirmed patient in house for treatment.  CCHD reports that the week of June 28 was the second largest spike in cases since the pandemic began locally, with 39 new cases in that week.

The health department continues to offer free testing at the Tie Breaker Site Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
