Former Cy Young Award winner David Price announced because of health concerns in the coronavirus pandemic he will not play with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season. Price and Mookie Betts were acquired in a February blockbuster from the Boston Red Sox. Price was the first overall pick in the 2007 draft out of Vanderbilt.
Four MLB teams are revealing new coronavirus cases. The Washington Nationals, Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates all announced that they have two players each who have tested positive. All players are isolating. The St. Louis Cardinals also say they now have a third player who has tested positive after disclosing two cases Saturday.
Meanwhile, four Atlanta Braves including star Freddie Freeman have tested positive for Covid-19. Manager Brian Snitker says it will be a while before Freeman returns, as he’s battling a fever and isn’t feeling “great.” Pitcher Felix Hernandez has opted out of the season due to concerns over Covid-19.
Major League Baseball is slated to announce all teams 60 games schedule today. Opening games will be July 23rd and 24th.
