A fire that damaged a vacant home on Maplewood Drive Saturday night may have begun with fireworks.

Hopkinsville firefighters were called to 1816 Maplewood just before 8 p.m. and found flames and smoke coming from the front of the structure, according to Captain Michael Pendleton.

Crews were able to quickly get the fire extinguished and determined the utilities had already been shut off to the home due to it being vacant.

Witnesses told the fire department that the blaze likely started with fireworks that were ignited in the direction of the home.

No one was injured in the fire.
