Local woman charged with meth trafficking

A traffic stop at Walnut Street and Central Avenue early Wednesday morning led to a local woman being charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

The citation for 39-year old Angela Garcia of Hopkinsville says she was a passenger in the vehicle and a computer check showed her to be sought on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

A K9 alerted on the vehicle and officers discovered meth, a digital scale with meth residue and other drug paraphernalia. Garcia told police she had swallowed two grams of meth prior to police contact.

She was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and cited into court for trafficking in meth, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
