Hoptown Football will need a new opponent for season opener

(Undated)  —  The Tennessee high school football season won’t kickoff as scheduled.  Governor Bill Lee extended the coronavirus state of emergency through August 29th, which includes sporting events restrictions.  Schools can’t have competition or scrimmages with other schools and can’t have close contact activities during fundamental practices in football, girls soccer, wrestling and basketball.  The TSSAA sent a memo to schools yesterday on the update, but no new start dates were announced.  The football season was to begin on August 20th.  Girls soccer will be pushed back from an August 17th start. Hopkinsville was scheduled to open the season against Kenwood August 21st at the Stadium of Champions.
