CCHD reports one new case of COVID-19, 137 people have recovered

The Christian County Health Department says cases of COVID-19 locally seem to be continuing to increase, as they reported one additional confirmed case in Tuesday’s update.

According to a news release, that puts the overall total at 179—of those cases, 39 are considered ‘active’ and 137 people have recovered from the virus.  Christian County remains at three COVID-19 related deaths.  Breaking the data into age groups, there have been 17 cases in the pediatric age group, 118 cases in the young adult to middle aged grouping, 41 in the older adult category and three in the elderly age group.

Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, there have been 5,607 tests conducted locally.  Jennie Stuart is reporting that they have two coronavirus positive patients currently hospitalized.

The health department states they are reviewing the increase in positive cases, which have been steadily increasing compared to the weeks of April 19 through May 10, and that it could be attributed to more activity in the community as things are reopening.

CCHD continues to offer free testing at the Tie Break Site Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
