ESPN is reporting that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will sign his $31.4 million franchise tender by Monday. Dallas has until July 15 to work out a long-term deal with Prescott, who finished second in the NFL last season with a career-high 4,902 passing yards and fourth in the league with a career-best 30 touchdown passes.

Max Tuerk, a former standout offensive lineman at Southern California and draft pick of the Los Angeles Chargers, died unexpectedly Saturday at the age of 26. Tuerk’s family said he died while hiking with his parents just north of San Diego but did not offer any further details.

Jim Kiick, the versatile running back who helped the Miami Dolphins achieve the NFL’s only perfect season in 1972, has died. He was 73. The team announced the death Saturday. Kiick battled memory issues in recent years and lived in an assisted living home.
