A member with the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department has tested positive for COVID-19.
The department issued a statement Monday morning saying the unnamed individual is currently doing well under a doctor’s care.
The firefighter was last at the station on June 8 and had no symptoms. He hasn’t responded to any emergencies in over 21 days.
Chief Nick Belair says other members who were at the station on June 8 have been advised to monitor for symptoms and to get tested as needed.
The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department has consulted with the Christian County Health Department and is following federal and state health guidelines.
Chief Belair says the department instituted additional sanitation measures for equipment and personnel in March and those protocols remain in place to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
