Saturday morning pursuit ends with arrest

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on multiple charges following a pursuit that began with a shoplifting incident early Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville police attempted to stop 37-year old Jeremy Nelson after he allegedly shoplifted at the Circle K on North Main Street, but he refused to stop and the pursuit was terminated.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Ed Stokes located the vehicle on West Seventh Street and again failed to stop, with the pursuit eventually coming to a conclusion on North Drive. An arrest citation says he admitted to doing crack prior to driving.

Nelson was arrested and charged by the sheriff’s department with fleeing or evading police, DUI, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations.
