Winners of the Hope for Hoptown art contest announced

The winners have been announced for the Hope for Hoptown art contest, which celebrated local artists who were inspired by the community and the events happening within it.

There were three categories of art selections with the written word, visual art and original music and artists were asked to create work based around what gives them hope and inspiration during a time when most are struggling in some way.

For the written word category, the second runner-up is Rita Henson for her piece “My Little Blessing”, then the first runner-up is Shannon Snorton with “Life Changes” and the grand prize winner is “Invisible” by Lisa Parker.

In visual arts, the second runner-up is Jennifer Brown for “Inside a Hero’s Mask”, the first runner-up is “A Beautiful Marriage” by Stephanie Estes and then the grand prize winner is “The Light that Guides” by Amy Peters.

The prize winners in original music are the first runner-up was “Stand Your Ground” by Wayne Harper and the grand prize winner is “The Healing Tree” Rachel Crick.

The fan-favorite based on community-wide voting on the pennyroyalarts.org website was awarded to Chad Fuller for his​​ photography submission, “A New Day in Hoptown”.
