UK announces budget cuts in athletics

University of Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart announced Thursday the department is planning for contingencies if the Covid-19 pandemic prevents fans from attending games, but also revealed the athletic budget for 2020-21 has a projected $5.7 million decrease in ticket revenues. The Courier Journal reports the budget also has 17 percent cut or $7.6 million which will come from team travel. Football and men’s and women’s basketball will continue to use charted flights to and from some trips while other sports that previously used chartered flights will no longer do so.
