Gov. reports 253 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

Although there was no televised press conference Friday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced 253 new cases of COVID-19 in the state in an update.

Those 253 cases puts the overall total at 13,454, according to a news release, and there were two new deaths, putting that at 522 since the pandemic began. At least 3,516 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

Governor Beshear says, “I know Kentuckians have what it takes to reopen as safely as possible. We must continue to strike the balance between supporting our local economies and still cutting our contacts significantly.”

Tennessee saw its highest number of new cases so far, with 1,188 reported on Friday, bringing the total up to 34,017.  There were six more deaths, putting that total at 515 for Tennessee—Montgomery County is at 363 cases, Robertson County has 703 and Stewart County remains at 17.
