Freedom Elementary recognized for energy efficiency efforts

Freedom Elementary School recently received an EPA “Energy Star” certification for its efforts to be energy efficient and protective of the environment.

A news release says to earn the certification, the Chrsitian County Public School System worked with the Kentucky-based energy services company, Harshaw Trane, to update facilities with new lighting, controls, HVAC and more.

Energy Star school buildings use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and releases 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The school district has saved about $1.3 million in energy costs since 2016.
