EDC Director talks recovery from pandemic

A majority of local factory workers who were furloughed at the beginning of the pandemic have returned to work and South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Executive Director Carter Hendricks says there’s hope for brighter days ahead.

Hendricks appeared on WHOP Friday morning and noted most of the layoffs were in auto-industry related facilities.

He says a vast majority of those employees have returned to work in the last few weeks.

Hendricks says the local EDC is working with TVA to recruit new industry to the Christian, Todd and Trigg counties.

The former mayor of Hopkinsville says he sells the region by noting its diversity, quality of place, low cost of living, pace of life and relatively low tax rates.
